Prizes and awards

Members, consultants, junior consultants, registrars, physiotherapists and occupational therapists are invited to participate for the following awards available in 2010:Members, consultants, junior consultants, registrars, physiotherapists and occupational therapists are invited to participate for the following awards available in 2010:

 

  1. SASSH Registrar Prize: R3,500-00
    This award is available for the best paper read at the SASSH Congress by a registrar or junior consultant (i.e. within one year after qualification and/or registration). The papers will be judged according to: Originality; quality of content and presentation; clarity; value; logical deduction

     

  2. SASSH Therapist Prize: R2,500-00
    This prize is sponsored by SASSH and is presented for the best paper read at the SASSH Congress by a hand therapist (physio- or occupational therapist). Papers are judged as for (1) above.

  4. Isidore Kaplan Literary Award: R5,000-00 Closing Date: 30 June 2010
    This prize is sponsored by SASSH for the best publication by a registrar or consultant between 1 January – 31 December of the previous year. The author must submit the paper by 30 June 2010. The paper should conform to the following conditions: Standards; originality; clarity; value and conclusions


  5. Stratmed Prize for the Best Research Paper Closing Date: 30 June 2010
    This prize is sponsored by STRATMED and awarded annually for the best research paper presented at the SASSH Congress. The papers will be judged according to the following criteria: Originality, content, presentation, value and validity, logical deduction

     

    Papers will be judged by the members of the Executive Committee of SASSH as well as one independent judge who will be the invited international guest, and their decision shall be final. The prize is open to all categories of currently paid-up members of SASSH and must be taken up in the year following presentation of the award. The value of this award includes the cost of all flights, accommodation and registration fees to the following year’s FESSH (Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand) Congress. Daily subsistence allowance is not included.


  6. Macromed Barry O'Kelly Memorial Prize Closing Date: 30 June 2010

    This prize is sponsored by MACROMED and awarded annually for the best original content paper presented at the SASSH Congress. The papers will be judged according to the following criteria: Originality, content, presentation, value, conclusion

    Papers will be judged by the members of the Executive Committee of SASSH as well as one independent judge who will be the invited international guest, and their decision shall be final.
