Dear Members and Colleagues

41st ANNUAL CONGRESS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY FOR SURGERY OF THE HAND: 27 AUGUST – 29 AUGUST 2010, BOARDWALK CONFERENCE CENTRE, PORT ELIZABETH

Well it is back to Port Elizabeth. Some of our most successful meetings have been held there in recent years. PE lends itself to great meetings with fantastic facilities, pleasant weather and a contained environment for social and academic interaction.

This year’s meeting starts with a pre-meeting workshop sponsored by Stratmed.
Friday afternoon, 27 August sees us exploring the mystery of the wrist. Our invited guest is Prof Michael Hausman, Chief of Hand and Elbow Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Centre, New York. He will lead a cadaver workshop focusing on surgical approaches to the wrist and the various carpal bones. Various common surgical procedures around the wrist will be demonstrated. Attendance will be limited as we plan to keep the number of surgeons per each cadaver as low as possible.
You are also welcome to attend this workshop as an observer. The proceedings will be video-screened. This international style course is state of the art and NOT to be missed.

The Annual Congress starts on Saturday, 28 August. On Sunday, 29 August Prof Hausman will be joined by Dr Dean Sotereanos from Pittsburgh.

Between the two of them and about 15 free papers we expect an academic program of the highest order. Talks will be practical and pertinent to all Hand Surgeons as well as Plastic Surgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons with an interest in Upper Limb Surgery.

We look forward to your attendance. Please register NOW to attend this exciting event.

See you there.

Dr Michael Solomons
Congress Organiser
